It has been written and sitting around since before the Fifty Fic Challenge. I suddenly remembered it and felt like posting, so here it is. Thank you once again to Jac for reading this through. I hope you enjoy this Summary: The first dance.
The toasts had been made, the tables had been cleared, the lights dimmed. As Gil Grissom gently swayed with his wife on the dance floor, he knew he'd achieved his nirvana. There was no place that could be in any way better than where he now was, no arms he'd rather be held by. You are so beautiful to me He looked down at her face, her eyes met his, captivating him. There was no doubting her beauty. He had always acknowledged it. But today, tonight, right now, she'd never looked more beautiful to him. The curls of her hair gently brushed against his arm as she moved her head to rest against his heart. The scent of the small roses in her hair, tried to intoxicate him with their bewitching powers, but he was already captivated by her spell of love. You are so beautiful to me He leant down and kissed the top of her head. Then half whispered, loud enough for her, and her alone, to hear over the music they were swaying to, "You look so beautiful today, I don't tell you that enough." She shifted in his arms, so she could face him; he noted the slight blush to her cheeks. Others often had the misconception that graced with her looks Catherine sought such comments. But he knew different. He knew her insecurities; he knew she held those who viewed her purely as a pretty face with disdain. He knew she hated the preconception many had that if she was gifted with beauty surely there were no brains to complete the package. He tightened his grip on her slightly, wanting to draw her closer. "You look beautiful and you have a spirit that is also beautiful. I love you." A tear escaped her eye, which he wiped away with his thumb. "Thank you." She whispered. Their lips joined in a kiss. You're everything I hoped for As they pulled apart, Gil gently stroked Catherine's cheek with the pad of his thumb. "I'm the luckiest man alive, to have found you and know that you love me. You mean everything to me. You have made my life complete." Catherine smiled up at him. "I'm the lucky one to have you in my life. Thank you." Their lips joined once more. You're everything I need. "You know with you by my side I feel invincible. I could take on the world." His wife chuckled. "Even Ecklie?" He smiled at her. "Yes even Ecklie. You have restored my faith in myself. You have given me strength I did not know I had. I would do anything for you, as you have already done everything for me." "I love you. We're going to be okay, right?" He squeezed her tighter again. Kissing her forehead. "We're going to be more than okay. Trust me. I'll be by your side no matter what, you mean the world to me, I'm not about to lose you or us, you are too precious." You are so beautiful to me Her eyes shone with love. They were more enchanting than sapphires, more iridescent than a glacier lake caught by the early fingers of a rising sun, they held within them a promise of love, a promise of happiness, his future and to him there was no more beautiful sight in the world. Such joy and happiness you bring She had taught him to live, to laugh, to love. To have her now in his arms, sharing his name was the essence of his dreams. He vowed once more to never let her go, to love her, to cherish her, to convince her of her beauty, for all eternity. "I love you Catherine." He smiled as he captured her lips with his, and then spun her around on the spot. The joy of this moment, his declaration, the reality of having her in his life overtook him. As the song ended, and they came to a halt, she smiled up at him, her eyes dancing with love, life and happiness. "I love you Gil." The End.
