| Chapter 1 | ||
Sara stood at his office door for five long minutes, hoping he'd notice her presence. He was too absorbed in his paperwork to do so. She sighed and walked in with a shy smile on her lips. It wasn't till she leaned over his desk that he finally saw her. "Hi" she said. He made a slow movement with his head and sat upright to hear what she had to say. Sara smiled for a few more seconds waiting for him to say something, but she gave up soon. "Busy?" He looked down to his pile of papers and then back at her. "You tell me. What do you want Sara?" He didn't mean to sound rude but his tone sounded too cold in her ears. "Nothing... much. I was just thinking you seem to have a rough night ahead with all those papers and that you needed something to eat. Wanna go have dinner?" Grissom looked at her with his best poker face. He didn't want her to misread any of his facial expressions cause she tend to do that occasionally. "No". There was no possible misread of that answer. "Grissom" - Sara bent even more and leant closer to him. She was so close that he could see down her shirt, but he didn't. "Aren't you tired of this? Cause I'm sick of it." He looked straight into her eyes. Was this woman never going to give up? "I'm tired of this too. I told you before, there's nothing between us and I prefer it to stay that way". Sara closed her eyes and lowered her head. "Is it the age difference? The fact that you're my supervisor? Cause, Gil, that's so stubborn. I'm a grown woman, I know what I'm doing and this is just.. so childish. What are you afraid of?" He thought that the last thing he needed was a bad Freud impersonator. He also thought that he had had enough with being polite. "I only see one child whimpering here about not getting what she wants, and that's not me. I'm not afraid Sara. I know what I want, and that's not you." She fought her initial shock to his words and bit her lower lip trying to find something to say as she walked to the door. "I don't think you know what you want, but, know something? I do. I know that I don't want to work like this. I can't stand it anymore! The tension whenever you're around, and the.. pain.." Her voice cracked at that point and tears roll down her cheeks. She could go through this humiliation once, but not twice, and she wasn't going to let him watch as she cried. So she ran out of the room towards the nearest place to hide she could find. Catherine was exiting trace lab when she saw her colleague ran into the bathroom and heard the slamming of the door. She knew immediately that Grissom had had something to do with it. A soft knocking his door made Catherine's presence known. He didn't need to look up to know it was her. A small smile appeared on his lips as he heard her heels as she approached his table. She made that same movements Sara did before, and leaned over his desk. He slowly looked up, and he was awarded with a clear view of what Catherine hid under her shirt before finally meeting her eyes. "What did you do to her?" Grissom knew Catherine was serious this time. They had often joked about Sara's crush but after her invitation she told him to take her more seriously. Sara may not be her favorite person in the world, but she was a woman, and Catherine felt that bond pull at her. She didn't want to see the younger CSI's feelings hurt by another man, even if it wasn't his fault and she was just deceiving herself. "I did nothing" He tried to sound convincing cause he was sure he'd get another of Catherine's rants on how to treat women. "She ran to the bathroom and I'd swear she was crying. Don't tell me you made her cry." He took his glasses off and left them on his desk. "I didn't mean to make her cry it's just.. she asked me out again. I tried to be tactful, I swear I tried but Cath she's so.. enervating." Catherine smiled to herself cause she was positive he was telling the truth and imagined his efforts in that situation but she didn't want him to think she approved being unkind. "I'm sorry to hear that. So, what did you tell her?" "I told her I was not... afraid" - and he looked straight into her eyes making them both smile at the memory of some previous conversations on that subject - "... and that I know what I want. Just not her." Catherine smiled. "I'm assuming that sounded a bit more harsh then but I get the idea." He stood and walked round his desk. Giving a quick look over her shoulder towards the open door, and making sure no one was watching, he gently kissed her. "Did you want me to tell her I couldn't go out to have dinner with her cause I had a hot date with you?" Catherine put her arms around his neck and pressed her body more firmly againt his. "Hot date? How could you know it was going to be a hot date?" He kissed her again, but separate when he felt her deepen the kiss. "Everytime I go out with you things end up getting hot." - And getting rid of her embrace he walked back to his desk - "and we can't do this here, and you now it". She mocked a hurt face. "You started it!" "No I didn't. It was you who bent over so I could see how "your girls" were doing. You don't expect me to just remain sitting calmly when I can see them saying "hello" to me." Catherine pointed a finger at him but wasn't sure of what to tell him. He was right, she always did that on purpose. "Fine. The girls and I will leave you now to finish with that, you big supervisor, and get ready for our date tonight." He felt his groin smile at her ideas and wished he had been given four arms so he could finish his task sooner. He soon found himself planning devilish tasks he could also accomplish with four hands but shook his head to regain composure and concentrate on his files. "Go woman, or I'll never finish" Catherine winked at him and turned to leave. Once by the door, she looked around and saw him with his face hidden in his notes again. She was a bad girl and she couldn't help it. "Gil?" He looked up at her and she pulled the hem of her shirt up till her white bra was clearly visible. "Don't make us wait". Grissom stood up in a flash but she was faster and ran out of his office laughing. | ||
