Song: "Love is only love" is from "Hello Dolly!" (The movie, not the play) and it's the part in italics.
A/N: Unbettaed cause I don't have the patience or the nerve to make someone read it first.

"Thank you" is all you whisper when he holds your hand and helps you to get up. Kneeling on the floor getting urine samples from an over-used toilet is not the most romantic scenery you could think of but suddenly there it is. The Feeling: Love.

Don't look for shooting stars... For love is only love.

You smile and look into his eyes, reading, knowing. The words you don't pronounce dancing merrily in your own. 'The eyes are the mirror of the soul' and you wish for the saying to be true cause you like what you see.

You touch and still you touch the ground.

"You're welcome" is all you get for an answer and you know that is exactly what he means. The sparkle in his eyes only does but corroborate what you already knew: You're welcomed.

Don't listen for those bells... For love is only love
And if it's love you've found,
Your heart won't hear a sound.

No shooting stars. No music in the background, but you are sure of the mood of the scene. And you recognize the feeling for it's always been there: Smiling in silence.

And when you hold his hand...
You only hold his hand.

You wonder if he noticed he is still holding your hand. Probably. Cause you can feel his, its warmth spreads on your palm and you feel it, you feel him, even on your fingertips. And he doesn't let go of you and you're not moving. What for? There's no point in denying it anymore. He's not letting go and you don't push him away.

For a second, the world around you is just a setting designed for you to feel it: Love.

The violins are all a bluff.
But if you're really wise
The silence of his eyes Will tell you:
Love is only love.
And it's wonderful enough.

"Thank you" is all you whisper when your lips part and you're left with the memory of the perfect kiss. You know you could have said more. You know the words your heart would choose but, he smiles, and you forget.

Without the shooting star
Without the sounds of bells
Without the violins
Love is wonderful enough.

"You're welcome" is all you hear him say. And you know that's exactly what he means. And that, as Love, is wonderful enough.
