I dreamed of this GC story few months ago, and I finally wrote it. Thanks Erica for her wonderful betaing and always being there to share Marg Love and GCness with me, thank you Mi Amor! Thanks the girls in our MSN talking. :) Thanks the girls in Marg Forum and LJ, love you all. And thank you all amazing writers and readers in this group, you're the best. This one is dedicated to Gomes, because she needs something to cheer up and I want to see her smile. ;) And as for you who are waiting for the sequel to ¡§The Farthest Distance¡¨, yes, I'm working on it, and hope I'll post it next week. ;)
He could hear her sobbing behind the door of the locker room. Of course he could. He always could recognize her voice, her laughter, even her sobbing anytime, anywhere. And at this moment, Grissom just stood by the other side of the door and couldn't move. Should he go in there and comfort her? Or should he just walk away and leave her alone to let her have her privacy? He was not sure, but there was one thing that he was sure by his heart. He wanted to take away her pain. He would go to heaven and hell just to make her happy again. He wanted her to be happy. *** Sobbing on the bench, Catherine didn't know how long she had cried in the locker room, and she didn't care if someone would come in there. Sometimes you just had to let it out, and right now, she just wanted to have a good cry. Cry for her sorrow; cry for herself. And she wished the tears she had could wash the pain and anger inside away. ***Flashback*** "Mr. Wilson, we got your print on Samantha Johnson's body. Would you explain to us why?" "I know you. You're Eddie's chick." Catherine's eyes widened. She didn't know this suspect knew her ex- husband. "Mr. Wilson, please don't try to change the subject. Just answer the question." "Eddie always told us about you, his beautiful wife, beautiful but a bitch. No wonder he wanted to kill you." Catherine was shocked. What was the man talking about? "What did you say?!" "Yup. Of course you didn't know. You bitch. You tried to take Eddie's daughter away from him, and that's why he wanted to get rid of you for good. Man, Eddie even wanted to burn your house. He always said if he couldn't have his daughter, neither could you." Wilson evilly grinned at Catherine, enjoying having the power on the beautiful woman in front of him. "You son of a bitch!" Catherine felt anger fill in every cell of her blood. How could this man say that to her? How could he talk about Eddie and her like this? And how the hell did he know about Eddie's dirty plan? How could Eddie ever think about hurting Lindsey like this? Without another word, Catherine stood and stormed out of the room. She could hear Wilson's victorious laughter resound. ***End of flashback*** "Catherine?" A familiar voice called her back to the reality. Catherine quickly wiped away the tears on her face, trying to smile while turning to her supervisor. "Hi." Hearing the defeat in her voice, Grissom stared at Catherine carefully. The sadness in her blue eyes pained his heart. "Are you okay?" Of course she was not okay. Grissom immediately kicked himself inwardly after asking the stupid question. He slowly walked to Catherine, sat down by her side and held her hand. His eyes never left hers. Catherine tried to take a deep breath to clam down and to tell her friend she was fine, but when her eyes met Grissom's, she just couldn't help letting tears fall down her face again. Grissom closed the distance between them and held Catherine in his arms; Catherine let her head touch his shoulder and started weeping, weeping like a baby. "Shh.......it's okay, Cath......Everything is gonna be okay, just let it out...." After what seemed like an eternity, Catherine's tears finally stopped. However, Grissom was still holding her. He didn't want to lose this moment of their intimacy. Catherine tried to leave Grissom's embrace. So he let her. Wiping away the tears from her face, Catherine then looked back at Grissom and smiled slightly. "Sorry about the mess." Grissom nodded. He didn't say a word and just looked at her, not wanting her to leave his sight. The two of them stared at each other for a while as blue met blue. Finally, Grissom broke the silence. "So.....care to tell me what happened, Catherine..." She looked away, trying to avoid his eyes. "Just a bad day. Nothing, really." Still staring at her, Grissom knew something was wrong and she didn't want him to know what it was. "Catherine........" Feeling so frustrate, Catherine turned around with rage and yelled at Grissom. "I'm fine! It's nothing Gil! It's.....I...." Water started to form in her blue eyes again, and Catherine was choked with sobs. "Just....I don't want to talk about it right now, okay... I can't talk about it right now....." Without a thought, Grissom opened his arms again and hugged her close to his body. "Shhh....it's okay. You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to." She hugged him back, so tightly that he couldn't breathe. "Just hold me for a while, okay... I don't want to be alone right now, Gil." "Sure." At this moment, Grissom wished he could just tell her how he felt, how he felt for her. He wished he could kiss her tears away and let her know she was not alone. He wished he could make her realize that she didn't need to face the world and all the sorrow alone by herself. He was there for her. He would be there for her. Always. But he knew he couldn't. Because this moment was just like one of those other moments. The moments when they were so close to each other, yet so far away. And that was all they had. ::fins::
