Just Show It

Spoilers: I guess a little from "Harvest"

"Hey."

Grissom looked up from his paperwork to find Catherine watching him from the doorway. "I thought you went home."

She shrugged, entering the dark office. "Lindsey's at her grandmother's. Don't really feel like going back to an empty house."

Grissom nodded understandingly but kept silent, not sure what to say to comfort her. He waited until she was settled into the seat across from him. "How are things with Lindsey?"

"Well...she answers me when I talk to her but never with more words than necesary. She stays with her grandmother most of the time now."

"I..." He shook his head, "I'm sorry, I don't know what to say."

"Yeah, well, that makes the two of us."

"I'm sure it'll get better."

She bit her lower lip before answering with a tired, "I hope so."

Grissom looked at the endless mounds of files and folders on his desk before he put down his pen and grabbed his jacket. "How about breakfast?"

"You paying?" Catherine's face lit up with a smile.

"Better. I'll cook." He offered with a nod of his head.

"You probably won't believe this but that is about the best offer I've heard in a long time."

*Anything to see that smile again.* Grissom thought to himself with a smile of his own as he and Catherine headed out of his office and down the hall to the elevators. If there was something his mother taught him, it was that loving someone didn't have to involve words. You just had to show it.
