Catherine sat there in his office, searching his eyes for some kind of emotion. She waiting, hoping that he would say something, mirror her emotions... but nothing came. Nothing changed. She was going to be Mrs. Jake Robinson, she was going to be settling for someone else. For second best. This was his chance, his chance to tell her what she just told him. "I love you Gil." She said that, when she first had sat down in his office. She couldn't go through with her life, if he didn't know. He hadn't said, 'I love you too Cath.' no 'Don't marry him, marry me.' Just plain silence. She looked down at her fingers, and held back her tears. "I... " She didn't bother finishing her sentence, she just walked out the door, and shut it behind her. She leaned back against it, and let all her tears come flooding out. She pulled her knees close to her chest, and buried her face into her arms. "Greg, get a life outside of meeting up with frat buddies." Sara laughed, walking down the hall. She spotted Catherine crying outside of Gil's office. She looked around, unsure of what to do. She cleared her throat. "Um... Cath?" Catherine looked up with a tear stained face, and red eyes. She stood up, and wiped her eyes. "Yea Sara?" She wanted to comfort the older woman. She wanted to ask her what was wrong, if she wanted to go and talk it out, just like Catherine had done for her when Hank cheated on her. She opened her mouth, but something else came out. "Is Gil in there?" Catherine almost looked disappointed when she glanced down at the floor. "Yes, he is." Sara nodded, and watched as Catherine walked down the hall, and into her own office. She knocked slightly, and she heard, "Come in." ~*~*~* If I had just one tear running down your cheek ~*~*~* Sara walked in, and immediately saw the downfall in Gil's eyes. "What can I do for you Sara?" Sara sat down. She handed him a DNA sheet. "We got Whitney Kern for murdering her husband and her best friend." she paused. "Why was Catherine crying outside your door?" Gil looked up, surprised, and weary. "She was crying?" Sara raised an eyebrow. "Well, that was moreso an understatement." "O." "What did you do to her?" "Nothing." Sara raised her eyebrow higher. "Nothing doesn't cause a woman to cry. Unless... that was the problem. What's going on?" Gil took off his glasses, and rubbed the bridge of his nose. "Sara... She told me she loves me." "Yeah." He looked to surprised at Sara. She shrugged. "What, it's not like it was any big secret." She paused. "You did tell her you love her back... right?" He didn't answer her. "Gris, we talked about this on our almost date last Friday. You need to tell her how you feel." "It's not that easy." Sara leaned forward. "You took a chance with Terri and me, amung other women. Why not with Catherine?" He didn't answer her. Sara filled in the blanks. "Because this is love? Gris, she's getting married tomorrow. You have to tell her now, and stop her from making the wrong choice." ~*~*~* Yeah.... could you cry a little ~*~*~* Catherine twirled around in her white dress, watching it in the mirror. She was lost in her thoughts of imagining it was Gil. There was a knock at the door, and put on a sad smile, thinking it was her mother. "Come in." ~*~*~* If your love could be caged, honey I would hold the key ~*~*~* Catherine turned, just as the door opened. "Mom, can you help me with this veil? It's impossible." She didn't hear a reply, but she heard the person step up behind her. She passed them the veil, and her hand brushed over their hand. "Sam?" Catherine turned, to see Gil standing there, veil in one hand, and a pink rose in the other. Catherine's breath caught in her throat. "Gil... what are you doing here?" "Cath..." he started. He looked down at his shoes. ~*~*~ Yeah.... and you'd cry a little ~*~*~ Catherine sighed. She didn't want to hear him say that he didn't love her back, that he just wanted to be friends. "Look, "she said, snatching back the veil, "just go and get my mom or Lindsey to help me with this damn veil." She turned away from him. She didn't hear him leave, so she turned around. "What do you want? If it's to tell me that you don't love, you just want to be friends, then that's fine, I don't want to hear it. I just need some one to help me with this damn veil!" she yelled, tossing it aside. ~*~*~ Give it up baby ~*~*~ "Catherine... what..." Gil started. "What do I want?" Catherine tried to finish for him. Tears ran down through her eyeliner, and mascara. "I want you to just cry. Just cry for once in your life. But not because I asked you too, no I want you to cry because what I see in your eyes isn't just friendship. It's love. So just cry, cry because I'm going to marry someone else, and you can't do a damn thing about it!" Gil opened his mouth. Catherine's breathing slowed down, and she slightly frowned. His eyes began to get shiny, and then one-by- one tears fell down his face. "Catherine... I love you. I've loved you since the day Lindsey was born. When I was in that hospital, worried out of my mind if you were alright. When I saw Lindsey for the first time, and I held her in my arms, being the first one to hold her, I wanted so badly for her to be mine. When Eddie walked in, and grabbed her from me, and she started crying, I was convinced it was because she liked me more. Cath... I love you." Catherine's breath once more caught in her throat. "Wha..." Another knock came at Catherine's door, and Lindsey came in with her eyes shut. "You decent?" she yelled. "Yea..." Catherine said, not tearing her eyes away from Gil's. "Bad news mom." Lindsey said opening her eyes. She saw the look between the two adults, and raised her eyebrows. "Or good news..." "What Lindsey?" Catherine asked, softly. "Freakazoid's chickened out, and ran off with that other nasty chick he hangs out with." Lindsey said, planting herself on the cushioned stool. Gil frowned, but still looked at Catherine. "What?" Lindsey sighed. "Jake ran off with Karen, leaving a note saying that he never ment to hurt you, and that he just felt his heart was with someone else." Lindsey examined her nails closely. "The note was sad, almost pathetic really." A smile broke out on Catherine's face. "I know what he's saying." She lept into Gil's arms, as Lindsey walked out fo the room, rolling her eyes. Gil caught her, and wrapped his arms around her waist. Her arms wrapped around his neck, and she pulled herself up closer to him, placing her lips on his in a gentle kiss. ~*~*~ Yeah... could you cry a little ~*~*~ | ||
