Pairing: G&C. Rating: PG Disclaimer: Not mine. Spoilers: Season 5. Archive: GraveShiftCSI. Summary: Griss tells Cath the truth, about him.

Catherine Willows opened her front door and saw her best friend slash supervisor on the other side.

"Gil, hi..."

"Hi." Silence. A far-away voice inside his head told him, *Dammit you fool, say something* "Hi" It was all he could think of.

"Hi. Gil, you're freaking me out. Have you been drinking? You look kinda spaced."

"No... I, uh, I came to give you this." He cleared his throat.

"Cath, you know I'm not a touchy feely, kinda guy. But this is how I feel, about you."

"You.

Beautiful like a butterfly.

Constant as a grasshopper.

I've known a lot of you's, versions of you, and I can safely say I've been in love with every single one of them. People call me heartless, they leave and I don't feel a thing. But you're the only constant in my life, my grasshopper. I don't know what I'd do if I ever lost you, because I'm helpless without you.

PS! You're also beautiful like a butterfly.

Love, your bug-man."

Her mouth hung open. "I'm gonna go" He turned away to leave, but her hand on his arm stopped him.

"Gil, is this how you really feel?"

"Yes, Catherine, I... Uh... I love you" *Wow, he'd said it. Out loud.*

"Gil," She moved closer, he withdrew but she held him back. "Gil, I'm going to kiss you. Stand still." She tip-toed and surely enough, she moved towards him. God, he'd wanted to kiss those lips for so long. So many thoughts ran through his mind as their lips drew closer and closer. DId I say all of it? Did I shower today? Did I take that breath mint? Oh god, did I remember to floss. One inch away from his lips, she spoke. "Gil, don't think. Just feel." Their lips met, her lips slightly open. Gil felt this had to be what heaven felt like. They parted slowly, lingering on the feeling.

"Wow." Catherine seemed shocked, he was surprised that a woman as experienced as Catherine would be shocked by a kiss. He nodded silently. "I love you" The three words he'd only heard her say in her dreams. Or well, she'd said it, but not with this much feeling and emotion. "Gil?"

"Wow, yeah. Wow. That was ... Wo." She interrupted him by pressing her lips to his again.

"Do you ... Wanna come in? Into the house?" Her arms were still wrapped around his neck and he looked down at her, lust gazing in his eyes.

"Yeah." He started to follow her into the house, but she turned and stopped him abruptly.

"Oh, and Gil, that poem."

"Yeah, good huh?" He flashed her a proud smile and she felt bad for having to say this.

"Let's just say it's a good thing you're cute, but stick with your dayjob, promise me that?" She winked at him.

"I promise, I promise to love you, to ..." He grinned, knowing she knew he was teasing her.

"Can we just stop talking? I. Want. You."

"Done. Deal. Show me where to go, what to do... Well not, what .." She kissed him again, more forcefully this time.

"And as always I have to do your work." She flirted with him.

"You love doing my work for me and you know it."

"Time for me to work on something else for you."

"Get on with it baby"

"Grrr..."

. THE END .
