Not Just Any Woman

Spoilers: Grave Danger
Disclaimer: Cath/Griss belong to people who need to realize how perfect they are for each other. Thus, not me, I already have

Nick was okay, in the hospital with Sara and Warrick by his side. Greg was fine, Jim was okay, Grissom was... Somewhere. She didn't know what to think anymore, all they'd done was fight and disagree, and the more she tried to have a life outside of work, the more he pushed her away. She didn't need a man in her life, she just needed something to make her forget the inhuman sides of her job. As she looked around her empty living room, the doorbell rang.

"Gil?" She blinked to make sure she wasen't imagining him.

"You have no right to do this Catherine. You have no right to make me feel like this and then just run away to the next guy who just ends up hurting you. You want to know why I don't go out? Why I don't allow myself some 'human contact' Catherine? Because everytime I start to get close to someone you're there, and you just show me time and time again why I love you and why I can't get you out of head. Damn it." Gil Grissom wasen't a pacer, but after mustering up the courage to tell his best friend what was going on in his head, there were few things left that people assosicated with him.

"What do you want Catherine? What do you really want? Do you want a bunch of guys who don't know you, and who end up hurting you? Or do you want someone who loves you just because you're you? Because you make his life a little more bearable? Because everytime you smile his world lights up? Or because he knows the exact amount of days you've know each other, because that's the moment he fell in love with you? That's what you are to me Catherine, everything. But I can't keep torturing myself with the chance idea that maybe one day you'll think of me as something more than a co-worker or a friend." She just stared at him for a moment.

"You were never just a friend Gil, it was difficult. You made it perfectly clear that you had no room in your life for any woman." She turned to walk inside.

"You're not just any woman Catherine. You're special, you mean something to me. Nobody's ever meant as much to me as you do." Catherine was surprised by this sudden, out of character and brutal honesty. But for once, she let her heart do the thinking and her heart led her to one man, the man right in front of her.
