Catherine watched in horror at the television as she saw what used to be downtown New Orleans. She couldn't tear her eyes from the screen in the breakroom. Grissom came in and saw her watching the TV so intensely. "Everything okay, Catherine?" He asked. She didn't look from the screen. "I'm gonna need to take a leave." She said, watching the flooding waters gush from sewers and overflowing everywhere. "What's wrong, Catherine?" He asked her softly. He knew from the tone of her voice something was wrong. "I just need to get away for a little while, okay?" She said, staying calm but obviously agitated. "How long?" "A week at the least." She answered. "Where are you going?" She didn't answer. He repeated his question. "Catherine, where are you going?" "New Orleans." She said as quietly as possible. "Catherine!" Grissom yelled. "You can't go to New Orleans!" "I have no choice, Gil! My pregnant friend is there by herself. Her family can't contact her, I can't contact her. I need to make sure she's okay!" "Catherine, you can't go! Do you have any idea how dangerous it is right now? You could drown, you could be shot. You could catch a disease! You aren't going!" He demanded at her. "If you don't allow my leave, I'll quit. One way or another, I'm going to New Orleans. You can't stop me." He could tell by her eyes she was serious and she'd do anything to get to New Orleans. Grissom sighed in defeat. "Fine... but I'm going with you." Catherine tried to debate but he stopped her. "It's either you go with me or you'll have to quit, cause I'm not letting you go alone." She scoffed in response. "Alright, fine. I want to leave tomorrow around 5 AM. It's gonna be a long drive to Louisiana." She said and walked from the room as Grissom watched after her and thought the same thing. TBC | ||
