They had told Lindsey about their engagement as soon as she had gotten up and she was over the moon and insisted on being bridesmaid. As long as she didn't have to wear anything that resembled a meringue, which Catherine agreed to.

There were two presents under the tree. One was large and flat, the size of an A4 sheet of paper. It was wrapped in shiny purple paper with a large silver bow on the left corner and the gift tag read:

To my two favourite girls,

Somewhere we can build a future as a family

The second present was a long box approx 6inches in length and was about two inches wide. Very similar to a bracelet box. this one was wrapped in metallic green paper and had a gold bow the gift tag read:

Gil,

A token of our love,
Yours forever Cath xx

Gil handed the purple present to Cath "This is kinda something for all of us, I hope I picked well." Said Gil a little nervously.

Catherine handed the present to Lindsey "How's about you open this pumpkin." Lindsey grabbed the present with a big smile on her face and began tearing at the paper. Gil just sat and watched with a big smile on his face, and took Catherine's left hand and gave it a gentle squeeze.

Catherine leaned into Gil and gave him a gentle kiss on the lips "Love you" she whispered.

"Love you too." Gil replied.

"What did we get pumpkin." Catherine was looking over a Lindsey who was looking a little confused.

"It's a picture of a really nice house." replied Lindsey

"Our house if you want it to be?"

"REALLY!" Squealed Lindsey "This is like the best present, thanks Dad." Lindsey crawled into Gils lap and gave him a big hug.

"Gil it's beautiful, are you sure we can afford it." Catherine enquired as she looked over the property specifications.

"Yep, with the money I made on my townhouse we can pay a third of the asking price up front and get a mortgage for the rest or pay off some more when we sell this place. Either way we can definitely afford it. So do you like it?"

"Like it. I love it. It has a hot tub and a lawn thats green and not dust. When can we move in?"

"Anytime after the 10th of January we can complete and set a moving date. As it's a new development we won't have to wait for people to move out."

"Gil this is perfect." Catherine joined Gil and Lindsey for a family hug. Catherine gave Gil another kiss "Thankyou."

"You're welcome grasshopper." Gil continued to hug Catherine as Lindsey went to get the last present.

"Dad you've got one present left." Lindsey handed Gil his present and he read the tag.

Lindsey joined Catherine and waited to see Gil's reaction to his last present.

Gil gently opened the wrapping to reveal a black box. He slowly opened it. Catherine and Lindsey giggled at the look on his face he looked more than confused. Gil looked at them, mouth open and eyes wide.

"Is this.....are you?......really? Stuttered Gil.

"Yes baby, I'm pregnant, it's early yet but the three of us are going to become four." Catherine had placed her positive pregnancy test in the box to give Gil a clue.

Gil was stunned "I can't believe it, this is..... this is. I'm speechless."

"But you are happy?" Said Cath a little worried.

"Happy I'm over the moon, you've made me the happiest man on earth. the woman I love has agreed to become my wife then she tells me she's expecting our child. I don't think anyone is having a better christmas."

With that Gil took Cath into his arms and gave her a long deep kiss, which was broken due to Lindsey's giggles. "Come here butterfly." With that Gil, Catherine and Lindsey shared a family hug.
