Gil Grissom was maybe a man of wisdom, but regarding love, the only wisdom he could apply to him, was that better not falling in love, or nothing let it shown, the danger to be hurt will be turn to none. But not only he was afraid to be hurt, but his greatest fear was to hurt the woman he secretly loved for years: Catherine Willows had been wounded to many time, and he never wanted to do that. He never wanted to make her suffer, so better be friend. because he had convinced himself that he wouldn't be a good lover and that he wasn't worthy of her. So, friend they were for many years, and each time he had needed someone, she was there listened to him. She was also the only one daring to tell him the truth of whatever situation was. He often didn't have to say anything, she was just reading into him like crystal water. He wasn't sure it to like it at first, but sometime, it just better this way. No need to say anything. No need to admit anything, he just supposed she knew. He had included to his live a routine, he which he was almost happy. He was living in his own world, trying to go on with his life, trying to forget that he loved her so much, trying to convince himself that seeing her once in while, was enough with him. CHAPTER TWO Catherine Willows had been fooled one time again. Not that she excepted it to last forever, especially that they hadn't promise anything to each other but still, she had expected that she would be a so wanted lover, that Chris wouldn't have feel the need to go anywhere else. But no, for him, like a lot of man, quantity was prefer to quality. She tired to make like it didn't hurt, but it did. And as usual, she will keep all of this into the most deeper corner of her heart and move forward, one time again. She was also worried about Lindsey. She wasn't sure of what to do to get her attention, and she felt guilty most of the time because people convinced her that she didn't have enough time with Lindsey. But looking back, she wasn't so sure of this fact, but no one, except Warrick, never told her that she was a terrific mom. Grissom, a couple of time, had dared telling her a few things, which were more constructive advices. But she was so mad at him all the time now, that every little situations make her lost control of her cool style and almost scream at him. Yes, she was mad. She was angry because she wanted more attention from him, she needed more of him, not only of his encouragement, but she needed more of what inside him. She needed more confidence, she needed to feel more thrust because after all, up to now, Gil was the only men only her life that never truly hurted her. She knew that he felt all that, she just needed that it comes from him! CHAPTER THREE They were finishing a shift, it was late, and they had worked together to night and the case was a tough one. But fortunately, after a though examination of the evidence, the case was solved and the murderer was in jail until the trial. And like they did often in the past, they stayed into Grissom's office and talked about the case and slowly, the discussion turned Lindsey's state of mind. - How's Lindsey? asked Gil who was sat on the other side of the table. - She's… she's fine I guess. Grissom looked at her not surprised, but not so sure to understand the meaning of it. - I… It's… Catherine was without words. Grissom knew that she doubt her ability of mom, but he knew her and he also knew that since Lindsey was born, the little girl never missed a thing. - Cath, you always been a good mom, don't ever doubt that. Catherine looked at him, not so sure to believe him. - "I work at night Gil, and since Eddy's death, she needs me more. She have only me." She said out of despair. - "Maybe, maybe she needs you more. But as far as I know, you are there when she wakes up in the morning and you are still there when she go to bed at night! During the night, she slept and the time she was getting up during this time, is far behind." He said looking at him with a comforting look! Silence for a little a little while! - I miss that… said Cath who put his elbows on the table and her heads into her hands. She looked at him sheepishly. He put his elbows on the table as well and put his hands into his head to and looked at her with a shy grin. - I miss that to, he was forced to admit. Catherine didn't dare to smile, because she knew it was a great admission for him. But after a few second of looking at each other in the eyes, surprisingly, he smiled. She just answered back with the greatest smile she could give him. He dared to touch her cheek even if he knew he would betrayed himself by showing affection. He knew that by this touch, she would feel it. She would feel his great love for her! But Grissom felt weak for a moment, and he needed to let her feel that. He wanted her to feel loved, and maybe, maybe that was the beginning of it! Maybe a kiss will make it real! They were still looking in each other eyes and Catherine read indeed this undying love into his eyes! They stopped smiling. Catherine couldn't believe it that she was getting the attention she was seeking for from a man she knew could makes her happy! She needed his calm demeanour, she needed peace and rhythm! She needed him. She touched his hand on her cheek and closed her eyes when she touched it! Maybe a kiss would make it real! She gave into his touch. He moved toward her and he slowly let his lips brushed hers. The whole world disappeared. It was just them! That was the moment: shyly, they started to kiss and a jolt of unknown energy was sent through their body. Then, the kiss deepened and that was it. The world could have stumbled, they wouldn't have even noticed. Not even the inappropriate place to enjoy this confirmation of their feelings for each other could have stopped them savouring this first kiss. It was good, it was soft, and yet, strong, animated by passion and tenderness. The first kiss that meant everything. Through it, was love, confidence, confession, warm, insurance and security. Thought it, no need to talk, everything was said. Through it, no need to think because the most important now, it's the present moment and living it with no tomorrow! And if they ever forget one of those things, they just have to kiss again it will all come back to them. A kiss only… A kiss like this! The End | ||
