Serenity

Author's Note: This one kinda suddenly came to me also, after listening to a sad song by Evanescence. Anyway, hope you like it.

She took a breath of fresh air, and smiled as the sun warmed her face. His stressed frown changed to a grin, as soon as he saw how content she was. She closed her eyes and let the soft sounds calm her. Leaning back into his arms, he'll never forget the feeling of devotion and serenity that passed through his whole body at that moment. They watched the waves crash to the shore and waited for the sun to depart. Setting over a hill, the sky turned orange, purple and red, a palette of colors. It was as if God had personally painted a mural for them. He held her close, terrified of losing her. She turned her head up, looking into his eyes and a tear slid down her cheek. He knew, he kissed her and hugged her closer. She smiled and closed her eyes, words not needing to be said. He let tears fall freely as she slipped away from him. He caressed her cheek and broke down.

"One, two three, clear! Again, one, two three, clear. Come on, one more time. One, two, three, clear." The EMT was trying her hardest to resuscitate the victim.

"Catherine, please, god no. Catherine, can you hear me, Catherine, don't leave me!" Gil Grissom shouted at her limp body, being held back by Captain Brass and Warrick Brown. "Dammit it, let me go!" He bellowed, trying to break free.

"Grissom, come on man, let the EMTs do their job. Cool it." Warrick attempted to calm his boss, his friend.

"Catherine! Don't you dare leave me, I need you. Lindsey needs you. Please don't leave me. Catherine!" He broke down in sobs, still trying to get out of the grasps of his coworkers.
