believe me? Rating: G Author's Note: I haven't had this beta so oops on mistakes. Thanks to Melanie-Anne for the title. It took me awhile to figure out a story idea for it, but it came to me. I hope you, and everyone else will enjoy it.
Gil couldn't take his eyes off the beautiful girl in front of him. She had long before fallen asleep in his arms which by default took her kaleidoscope eyes away from his view. He didn't have the heart to wake her up so he could look at them once again. Her eyes changed with the emotions she felt. If she was happy they were a bright blue, if she was sad they were a light blue, and if she was mad then they turned ice blue. He could always tell how she was feeling by the colors in her eyes. Some days, he believed that he was put on this earth to put the sparkle in her eyes that made them bright blue. He rubbed her arm a little when he felt her toss a little in sleep. It might have been a nightmare that only she knew about, but he wanted to comfort her. Slowly he leaned down, and kissed her on the forehead content with that little gesture. Quiet reigned down on the house with everyone sleeping peacefully in their room except for him. He found that he had become almost an insomniac the last couple of years since he told Cath he loved her. Still today he considered that moment in time to be a miracle. Somehow she had survived a brutal attack while at a scene, and when he found her the words just popped right out of his mouth. All he knew at that moment was that he needed to keep her alive. Words of love were not his usual way of doing it, but she had opened her eyes at that moment and smiled at him. He knew after that she would fight to survive for him. The next time she had opened her eyes, she whispered those words to him. He didn't know he could be any happier then he was at that moment until a day a year later she told him her news. At her age, she was going to become a mother once again, and he was the father. At first, he was so happy, but when they went to the first doctor appointment he became scared for Cath. At her age, it could be dangerous for her and the baby to have a child. Fear had soared through him at the news, but Cath wouldn't let it get her down. She wanted that child very much, because it had the greatest father in the world she had told him. Nine months later, she gave birth to their beautiful girl. It was at that moment, he knew his life was complete. He had all he could ever ask for, and he wouldn't let anyone take it away from him. The soft pitter-patter of little feet along the hallway made him look up as the door opened up on one of his girls. There in her stocking feet was Lindsey. After Cath and he had gotten married, he had adopted Lindsey. "Dad, what are you still doing up?" she asked him softly. "Couldn't sleep, and what are you doing up?" "I wanted a glass of water when I saw the light." He looked down at the baby in his arms, and finally decided it was time to put her in her crib for the night. Looking back up at Lindsey, he told her, "Go get it, and go back to bed." He smiled at her, and after setting the baby in the crib he gave Lindsey a hug. "I'm going back to bed myself now." Once back in Cath and his bedroom, he laid down next to her. He waited until he heard Lindsey's door shut before he took Cath in his arms. He fell asleep thinking about Cath's own kaleidoscope eyes. Tonight, he was one very happy man. The End
