Upon the rooftop, three people silently watched on unseen as the gathering unfold in the backyard of the house.

‘they look so happy, so contented with what god has given to them…not many people will appreciate that….’

‘true. Sadly, for one, his time on earth is ending. it will come suddenly, and take them by surprise’

‘Don’t worry baby, his plan for them was set in motion long before their time, and at the end, they will be together forever in eternity, unbound by death. This will be a test of their friendship forge over the years, their strong love for each other, and her courage to overcome."

Below, the gathering consisting of the current graveyard shift, Mia and brass, were having a party in the backyard of Gil and Catherine’s new house, celebrating their recently marriage, after being best friends for more than 20 years [brass’s comment: finally, took them long enough].

The yard consisted of a medium size pool with a hot tub at one end and a large patio with a grill. A large wooden table was set up to accommodate the whole gang. Nick, Warrick, Greg and Lindsey were playing water polo. Gil was starting the grill wearing an apron that said ‘world’s best chef’, Catherine was taking out the food that needed to be BBQ from the kitchen . Sara and Mia were occupied making drinks for the rest, Sara had already handed one to brass who was lying on the chair watching the scene before him unfold..

"HEY CATH! Stop distracting grissom so that he can start cooking, and food will be ready before tomorrow." Greg shouted

everyone bust out laughing , when grissom turned a funny shade of red and Greg found a slipper chucked at his head which ended up a direct hit.

"HEY"

"No food or drinks for you greggo" she smirked.

…20mins later…

"FOOD’S READY, COME AND GET IT!" Gil yelled.

"Damn, its about time, we’re starving". They got out of the pool and headed over to the table

" MOM! where’s the sauce"

" In kitchen Linds."

" Can’t find it"

" Did you check the cupboard"

" I’ll see. FOUND IT"

" Drinks coming through" Sara pretended to lose her grip on the tray

" Woah, careful with that" nick stood up to help, resulting in him knocking into her. They stared at each other until they were interrupted by warick’s voice.

"Hey nick, let Sara go so that we can have our drinks please." Both blushed and sat down immediately.

Gil and cath brought the food over and sat down beside each other, brass on gil’s left, Sara on cath’s right. Just about a year ago, they were separated, and hardly saw each other. Now back together once again, as a team, and as best friends, they sat there under the stars, talking and laughing through the night about the past and present, yet unsure of what the future has in stored for them. But little did they know that, what was destined to happen is about to put their friendship to the test.
