"Okay," Sara Sidle began, "let's play 'Don't Know'."

It had been really quiet for the past few nights and the Graveshift were trying to find things to pass the time. For the first time in months everyone had finished their evidence cataloguing, and the related paperwork. It was almost as though the criminals had decided to have a holiday.

"Don't Knows?" Nick Stokes queried, "What is 'Don't Knows'?"

"It's a game." Sara informed him, her mind quickly working on how to form the rules for this new game, a game that up until a few seconds ago was only a name. "We try to find out something we don't already know about each other. You know like what's Grissom's favourite drink? Whom are you dating now?" she looked over at Nick grinning.

"Or what makes Sara crazy enough to think we'd go for something like that?" The Texan retorted grinning from ear to ear.

Grissom, their supervisor, raised his eyes from the crossword he was doing to look at the young, dark haired Sara. He had come into the break room for a coffee. However he had spotted a crossword, which hadn't been finished, and he had sat down to complete it. Now he wished he hadn't, for it seemed the younger members of his team were bored enough to do anything to pass the time, and giving out information about his private life was not really his forte. He wondered if he should leave, or perhaps he could just sit and finish his crossword and not get dragged into the game.

Catherine's reaction to Sara's suggestion was, unknown to her, similar to that of Grissom and she tried to find a way to put Sara off track "It sounds like 'Truth or Dare' and I stopped playing that in my teens."

Sara shook her head; Nick had given her a few minutes to come up with some more details for her game. "It's a bit more intellectual than that. We each write a question asking something we'd like to know about the others in the team. We put the questions in a box and we each pick one out, if you pick out your own question you simply put it back. So say Catherine picks out the question, 'Where is your favourite holiday destination?' We each get to ask her two questions and at the end we have to figure out the answer. The person being questioned must answer the truth and can only use a few words, or yes or no to answer." She finished explaining.

"That might not be too bad." Warrick stated, he had been sitting quietly wondering just how new this game was. "We could give it a try." He looked at Nick who nodded his agreement.

Catherine was about to shake her head when she heard Grissom's chair scrape back as he stood up to make his escape. "Too hot for you, Gil?" she asked teasingly, there was no way she was letting him escape this 'torture', she grinned mischievously. "I'm willing." She replied and looked at Grissom daring him to back out.

Grissom walked over and refilled his coffee cup to give himself a moment or two to think. He should have known not to move until Catherine had answered Sara's challenge, he knew fine well that the strawberry blond would not let him avoid this little social gathering, especially if it made him squirm. He walked back over to the table, gave a baleful stare at his tormentor and sat down.

"Okay let's do it." He told them.

The five of them sat and wrote their questions and duly placed them in a box Sara had dug out. As it was Sara's suggestion she picked out the first question, followed by Nick, Warrick, Grissom and Catherine. Sara opened her question, 'What was your weirdest date?' The others were given two minutes to figure out two questions, which would help them to work out a possible answer.

This was followed by Nick, 'Why do you count your best date as your best date?' Then Warrick, who got an easy one, 'What is your favourite way to relax?'

There was great interest in Grissom's question, 'Who is your fantasy woman?' The three younger CSIs were delighted with this, Catherine was a little concerned and wondered how come Grissom had got this question, after all the other three were innocent enough. She then began to worry about her question, she blushed slightly as she knew she would have been embarrassed if she had been give Grissom's question as her answers would easily have disclosed her attraction to the man. She had wanted to tell him for some time how she felt, but was afraid if he did not feel the same, she would lose what little closeness she had with him. She saw him squirm slightly in his seat as the team began their questions.

"Remember, boss," Nick stated grinning, "you've got to answer truthfully."

"Okay here goes," Sara told him, "my first question, 'Is your fantasy woman real or fictional?'"

"Real" was the one word answer and he stared at the tabletop.

Nick asked next, "Is she alive, or is it someone in the past you really admired?"

"Alive." Again one word and he didn't lift his eyes.

Warrick, "Is it someone you have met or do you admire them from a distance?"

"Met." He squirmed slightly.

"Is she older or younger than you?" Catherine asked, becoming really interested in the outcome. She didn't know Grissom had a fantasy woman, and no one had heard anything about him going out with anyone recently. There had been Terri Miller but that hadn't gone very well and nearly everyone who had had an interest in Grissom had heard about that.

"Younger." Was the reply and he still stared at the tabletop.

"Do you lust after this woman, or do you love her?" Was Sara's second question.

For a moment they thought he wasn't going to answer. Sara fidgeted, hoping he wasn't going to back out now, not after all the trouble they had gone to.

"Love." He answered softly, and he glanced quickly at Catherine.

Oh my God, Catherine thought, could it possibly be.... She could hardly breathe.

"Have you known her for a long time, or met her recently?" Nick queried.

Grissom suddenly realised he was being given the chance to tell Catherine something he had wanted to tell her from the first time he had met her, but she had been with Eddie and so that wasn't possible, now however, she was a free agent and he could tell her. "Over fifteen years." He replied, glancing at the strawberry blond trying to gauge her reaction.

The three younger members of the team were sitting grinning, it had worked well by the looks of things, their boss was finally opening up to something they had guessed for months. "Are you ever going to tell her how you feel?" Warrick asked.

"Yes." Came the quick reply.

Catherine swallowed, "When?"

"As soon as those three grinning idiots leave." Grissom answered, looking straight at her smiling.

Warrick, Sara and Nick stood up and left the couple in the break room to talk over Grissom's confession of his feelings for Catherine.

"Finally," Sara exclaimed, as they walked along the corridor, "I wasn't sure you two would pick up on the idea as quickly as you did." She sighed.

Nick grinned, "It would have been fun seeing Catherine answer her question."

"What did you ask?" Sara queried.

"Who would you most like to make love to?" He replied.

Warrick patted him on the back, "So it was Sara who got Grissom." He said, "I'm just glad it's finally out in the open."

"Hey Sara," Nick stopped in front of her grinning, "Let me congratulate you on a great game and playing cupid so well."

The end
