I stand in shock, watching the couple before me. As each moment passes I feel my heart crumple and any hope I'd ever felt vanish. And everything becomes clear. This is why he turned down my dinner invitation. This is why he'd distanced himself from me. He'd never wanted me, he'd only wanted her.
