The CSI team delves into the suspicious murder of an up and coming young movie star who is found dead after a night of partying in his hotel suite with his entourage of groupies. Meanwhile, downstairs at the same hotel, the team discovers that the immigrant kitchen workers may have turned against each other and committed murder.

(Gil dials a number on his cell as he walks toward flashing lights.)

Catherine: "Catherine."

Gil: "It's Gil. How you doing?"

Catherine: "I'm busy. Checking up on me?"

Gil: "Why would I need to do that?"

picture courtesy of Erica

Catherine: "You tell me."

Gil: "Look, I know you tend to get a little territorial about your crime scenes, and I don't want there to be any tension between us, (shines flashlight at the ground) so I'm giving you fair warning."

Catherine: "Fair warning for what?"

Gil: (Now standing near Catherine's crime scene.) "Hi." (Waves cell and smiles.) [CC reads: "You're at 7888 Oakey Street, am I right?"]

(Catherine closes her phone.)

Gil: "The taxi's last drop off was this address. This guy's got dirt on his shoes and pants. There was dirt in the cab. He's gotta be the last fare."

Catherine: "Somebody killed them both. And if it's about money, doesn't look like this guy has much."

picture courtesy of Erica

Gil: "Well, I guess it's relative. Depends on who you are."

picture courtesy of Erica

Catherine: "Samay...Samay Thao. 15527 East Charleston Road. That's a long way from here."

picture courtesy of Erica

Gil: "I count six shots in his chest. There were two in the cab, one in the cabbie. If the math is correct, that's nine."

Catherine: "Suggests semi-automatic, but I don't see any shell casings here."

Gil: "Yeah, there were none in the taxi, either."

Catherine: "Killer could have picked them up."

Gil: "To shoot a guy six times in the torso, you either have to be very close or a hell of a shot."

David: "It's okay if I roll him?"

Gil: "Yeah."

David: (Rolls body) "Well, no through and throughs. We should be able to recover some bullets from the body."

picture courtesy of Erica

Gil: "Hang on. What do you make of that? (referring to a stain) Looks like he rubbed up against something."

Catherine: (looks around) "Could be transfer from that railing." [CC reads: "There's some paint flaked off of that railing."]

Gil: (Turns to look at railing/shines light at it.)

(Flashback of Samay being shot and falling over railing.)

Upstairs--

Gil: "We got blood drops." (Shines flashlight on blood, then on the body on the ground.)

Catherine: (Shines light on the hole in the door.) "Gil. This looks fresh."

picture courtesy of Erica

Gil: (Backs against the wall beside Catherine.) "Hey, Brass?"

picture courtesy of Erica

picture courtesy of Erica

Brass: "His name is Keo Vipraxay. He barely speaks any English. He's South Asian, I think. Anyway, it's all clear."

picture courtesy of Erica

Catherine: "Thanks, Jim."

(Gil and Catherine enter the building.)

picture courtesy of Erica

Catherine: (Ejects the bullet from the shot gun and holds it up for closer inspection.) "Double-aught buck. Standard shot is nine pellets."

picture courtesy of Erica

Gil: "That would account for all the hits."

Catherine: "So you're saying that a single shot gun blast, through a security door, took out two separate victims in two separate locations?"

picture courtesy of Erica

picture courtesy of Erica

Gil: "Weird, huh?"

picture courtesy of Erica

(Flashback of the taxi dropping Samay off with Grissom talking over)

Gil: "The cab drops Samay Thao in front of this building. And the position of the blood drops gives us a pretty good idea where he was standing when he was shot."

(End of flashback. They use the laser lights to show the path of the bullet.)

picture courtesy of Erica

picture courtesy of Erica

Gil: "He was a little shorter than me."

Catherine: "Shots were centered on his chest, about there."

(Flashback of Samay being shot and falling over railing.)

Gil: "My guess is, the cab was parked down there, the driver peeled out when he was shot."

Catherine: (Pulls out a protractor-like instrument to measure degrees) "Vertical deflection down to the cab is roughly 60 degrees. Standard shot won't spread that far."

Gil: "The pellets must have come through the screen. (Flashback of Samay and cab driver being shot.) The old billiard ball effect."

Catherine: The cab driver was collateral damage. But the man with the shot gun said he shot a burglar. What's here to steal?"

Catherine: "Noy Vipraxay's car."

picture courtesy of Erica

Gil: "Easy for you to say."

Catherine: "Find anything?"

picture courtesy of Erica

Gil: "Take a look at this. Gravitational pooling directly under the steering wheel."

picture courtesy of Erica

picture courtesy of Erica

(Flash back of car being found with Catherine doing the voice over)

Catherine: "The car was found at the bottom of a steep incline." (End flashback) "So he was leaning over it when he bled out."

Gil: "Except he wasn't." (Shows Catherine picture of crime scene.) "Look. See this? [CC reads: "Take a look. These were taken at the crash site."] If he'd bled out in the position he was found, there'd blood on the door, not under the steering wheel."

picture courtesy of Erica

picture courtesy of Erica

Catherine: "So someone moved the body?"

picture courtesy of Erica

Gil: "There was plenty of mud at the crime scene, and Samay had mud on his pants. Now, maybe we can match soil samples."

picture courtesy of Erica

Catherine: (looks inside the car and finds a broken CD.) "Hang on. Trace came back on the splinter that was in Samay's eye. It was a CD fragment. Samay was in this car."

picture courtesy of Erica

Sara: "Hey, guys? I got work card hits off prints from the two dead Laotians and the shooter."

Gil: "We already know their IDs."

picture courtesy of Erica

Sara: "Well, did you already know that they all worked together?"

Gil: "Samay and Noy go for a drive after work. They stop at Mount Charleston. (Flashback of Samay and Noy.) Samay kills Noy...(flashback of Samay and Noy struggling)...and makes it look like an accident." (End flashback) And then he goes to Keo's apartment, and Keo shoots him, claiming self-defense."

picture courtesy of Erica

Catherine: "I don't buy it. Keo shot him from the other side of a locked door. He was waiting to blow the guy away."

picture courtesy of Erica

Gil: "Which indicates that, uh, Keo knew Samay was coming."

Sara: "Maybe he hired Samay to kill his brother, and then he decided to cut him out of the deal. Noy had a life insurance policy issued through his union worth ten grand."

Catherine: "Life's getting cheaper. Who's the beneficiary?"

picture courtesy of Erica

Sara: "Keo was the primary, but check this out. Half of the payout goes to Joe Cavanaugh."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Catherine: "I got the serial number run down for Keo's shotgun. He bought it last week, two days before he shot Samay."
picture courtesy of Erica
Gil: "The guy's barely scraping by and he spends $250 on a brand-new Mossberg?"
picture courtesy of Erica
Catherine: "There's a word for that. 'Premeditation.'"
