If That's What It Takes by Pia
Note: This is my first time posting anything other than feedback to this list. The poem was written earlier this year, and even though it wasn't written with Gil and Cath in mind, I think it fits. You be the judge. You always get to decide on the POV for yourselves. :-) For me, it's Cath's POV, though.
I will smile and pretend it doesn’t hurt at all, if that’s what it takes. I will be strong and promise you that I’m all right, if that’s what it takes. I will watch you go and still be here when you come back, if that’s what it takes. I will close my eyes and pretend I can’t still feel your pain, if that’s what it takes. I will listen and let you cry on my shoulder, if that’s what it takes. I will reach out and hold on to you forever, if that’s what it takes. I want you to smile and I will stay, I will be your friend, if that’s what it takes. Don’t you know I will do anything, give everything, if that’s what it takes. - Pia Pedersen, 2004
