| PART 12 - ECKLIE SHOWS HIS WORTH | ||
Catherine had just returned to the Crime Lab when the call arrived. Brass: Another crime scene. Brass said, entering the room. Brass: The agent who was supposed to protect Theodore Stiers has been murdered in what seems like a re-enactment of an Urban Legend. Cath got immediately up and asked Cath: And Ted? Is he dead too? Brass: No, don't worry, Cath, he's alive. It was he, in fact, that made the call. The whole team prepares to leave, but Gil says Gil: Don't you think this would be a little… overwhelming, guys? Besides, this is not the only crime that has happened tonight in Vegas. He said, giving three cases to the younger CSIs, one each. Gil: Warrick, a fire in a suburban house, two dead; a mother and her daughter. Nick: A suspected case of assault. Sara: A case of domestic violence. Hold your prejudices down, this time. Greg didn't understand, and asked Greg: Why? But by the time he asked, Gil was already out of the door with Cath. Greg: Oh well… Cath and Gil, in the meanwhile, are on their way to the crime scene, and each one has their thoughts to ponder upon… Gil: (thought) What did that mean? A coup de foudre? This guy has arrived here as a suspect, I may add and Cath seems to be very enamoured with him. What the hell? Calm down, Gil. Let's analyze this lo-gi-cal-ly. Well, he has been nothing but a good guy, and he could have been killed, not to mention the terror he is in. Humph. That doesn't mean I have to like it, though. Cath: (thought) What's up with Gil? I was just worried about Ted, as a friend. Oh, no. No way. He can't think of me that way. In order to attain that, I should grow eight legs and become a tarantula. Still… She notices Gil clutching the steering wheel hard Cath: (thought) I can't help but wonder… They arrive at the crime scene fairly quickly, and the first thing they notice is Ecklie cuffing Ted. So, obviously, they run to the two men. Gil: Conrad? What do you think you are doing? Ecklie: Isn't it obvious? I'm arresting a killer. `You wouldn't even notice a killer if they stood out of a lineup and tapdanced in front of you', Cath thought, but kept it to herself. Cath: May I ask you on which bases? Ecklie: His fingerprints on the murder weapon. Ted: I'm telling you for the last time, Mr. Ecklie, I haven't touched that rope. And besides, you contaminated evidence, by taking it with your bare hands. A moment of silence. Gil: (heavily sarcastic) Be proud, Conrad. You helped a criminal be free. Ted and Cath say nothing, but send icy blue stares down to him. Ecklie squirms a little and then leaves, leaving Ted still cuffed. Ted: And he took the keys away with him! How's this for comedy? He rolls his eyes. Ted: `All-around ass'… your colleague was right. And not only that, a detriment to the profession. Why is such an incompetent head of Dayshift? Gil: Politics. TBC | ||
