Blood

For safe handling of blood assume that all human blood or other body fluids carry disease. To avoid infection from hepatitis B and C, as well as HIV, even from dried blood stains, take these precaustions:

  • Wear disposable gloves, coveralls, and protective footwear, and change them frequently. Inspect them closely before putting them on.
  • DO NOT wear protective clothing that is torn, ripped, or worn. Dipose of them as you would all biohazardous materials.
  • Wash your hands.
  • Wear protective glasses/goggles.
  • Do not eat or drink in the presence of blood or other body fluids.
  • Decontaminate/disinfect your equipment after each use.
