Footprints

Evidence left at a crome scene by the perpetrator's footwear can tell investigators about his/her size, weight and specific gait. Someone who was walking will have a tread easily distinguished from that of someone who was running. If a show has been worn for a period of time, it will bear distinctive signs of wear that can lead to identification of its owner. Footwear evidence is of two types: 1. Impression: three dimensional print left in soft material, allowing investigator to measure height, width and depth. 2. Print: made on a solid surface by dust or any powdery substance.
